ACADEMIC

Mr. Mmbaga is a holder of B.Sc. Agriculture General (Sokoine University of Agriculture 1993-1997) and MBA-Agribusiness (Sokoine University of Agriculture 2007-2009).

FIELD EXPERIENCE

Mr. Timoth Mmbaga is currently specialized in Agricultural Sector Policy Reforms with specific focus on lobbying and advocacy for good and sustainable Agribusiness policy environment for sustainable agricultural sector growth. Mr. Mmbaga has immense experience in these areas due to fact that has worked with different institutions dealing with agricultural policy reforms. These institutions include the Ministry of Agriculture of which he served in different positions such Head of Multilateral and Bilateral Cooperation Unit within the Department of Policy and Planning, Officer in Charge for Parliamentary issues in the Ministry of Agriculture and later a Personal Assistant to the to the Minister for Agriculture. He also worked with the Agricultural Council of Tanzania as Director of Policy and later became the Executive Director.
Mr. Mmbaga has also experience in Development Projects: he worked with DANIDA funded Soil and Water Conservation Program in Iringa Region as a Facilitator and thereafter worked also with the IFAD funded Participatory Irrigation Development Programme (P.I.D.P) as a Programme Manager in Dodoma.
He has participated in different National and International dialogues and forums including World Economic Forums (in Davos – Switzerland, Cape Town – South Africa and Dubai), World Farmers Organization, East African Farmers Federation (EAFF) Southern African Confederation of Farmers Union (SACAU), African Food System Forums, etc.
He has participated in different policy formulation, analysis and reviews in Tanzania and has a wide knowledge and experience in different agricultural development initiatives in Tanzania. He has immense experience in National Budgeting Process and analysis and he is a member of National Think Tank on Budget Reforms under the Ministry of Finance in Tanzania.
Mr. Mmbaga has a great passion in agriculture (crop, livestock and Fisheries) and has always been a great advocate for agricultural development in Tanzania. He believes that for the agricultural sector to thrive, a conducive environment for investment must be created through improvement of policies related to Climate change and protection of Biodiversity, sustainable agriculture and agribusinesses, taxes, Gender Parity and livelihood.
Mr. Timoth is currently a Board member of different Public Institution such as Tanzania Bureau of Standard (TBS), Tanzania Fertilizer Company (TFC), Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT as a Chairman of AGM) and a member of National Think Tank on Budget Reforms under the Ministry of Finance in Tanzania.
